Giving second chances through education, mentorship, and community support.
David Lee Windecher's journey is one of grit, redemption, and transformation. An immigrant raised in the harsh realities of poverty-stricken Miami-Dade, David's early life was defined by survival. Arrested 13 times and pulled into gang life under the street name "Red," his future seemed predetermined.
But David chose a different path.
Fueled by resilience, he earned his GED, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and became a licensed criminal defense attorney in both Georgia and Florida. Today, David is not just an attorney — he is a trailblazing orator, author, and reformer, redefining what justice can look like in America.
In 2015, he founded RED (Rehabilitation Enables Dreams), a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of incarceration. Through mentorship, education, and restorative justice programs, RED empowers young people to reclaim their futures.
David's memoir, The American Dream / HiStory in the Making, chronicles his powerful transformation. All proceeds support RED's mission, turning his personal story into a collective movement for change.
David's life is proof of one thing:
Redemption is real — and it begins with opportunity.
To keep people out of the criminal justice system — permanently — through restorative programs that build social, civic, and financial literacy.
From the streets to the courtroom, David’s story proves that redemption is real—and one life can inspire many.
